WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?

  • If you are a beef producer, produce more 100% organic grassfed beef and record the organic matter levels in the soils under the pastures.  Share this information.
  • If you are a consumer, search for sources and demand 100% organic grassfed beef.  Citizen action is most likely to have the most impact over the long run.
  • If you are an academic, encourage research and data gathering to support the understanding of and to quantify what’s happening to soil, fertility, water retention, etc. and to improve methodologies related to farming practices.
  • For everyone, vote for local and national representatives who understand and support sustainable agriculture, especially 100% organic grassfed beef.

  1. Hi Martha, I am writing a book on holistic management and grasslands, and travelled for 31/2 months this year,
from the UK starting in Zimbabwe, on to Australia and ending in Oregon, and then NC where my daughter lives.

Its a book of ‘stories’ because I think people get turned off by facts and figures. I’d love to send you my book outline. You can read my blogposts of my journey along the way at the above website to get an idea of where I am coming from. I love your website and the information it contains, and how passionate you are about this vital subject. I am coming over to San Francisco for the Savory conference in early October, and will be visiting my daughter in Chapel Hill. I’d love to interview you over the phone when I am there! Gill Jacobs

  2. Hi Martha,

I recently found out about your website. First of all, I would like to say thank you for the resource and thorough information that you’re providing.

I’m currently living in France and planning to move in Montreal, Canada by March/April next year, with the desire to start a business within the meat industry for both the US and Canadian market which involve grass-fed meat in general. The vision is to create a more sustainable, responsible and efficient market place for both farmers and consumers.

I have a few questions that I would like to ask you if it’s ok with you, I certainly don’t want to take much of your time, but it would help me to validate some important part of my business idea and clarify some concerns that I have.

What will be the best way for us to go ahead ?

    Looking forward to your replay,
